A little over 16 years ago, I chose Oblina from a pile of orphaned kittens. I picked her because she was "the weirdest one." She marched right up to me, back arched and spitting, like a cartoon Halloween decoration...then climbed directly into my open hands and fell asleep.

Today, I said goodbye. I let go of my best friend, my joy, my love, one of my longest relationships, and as originally assessed - a really, really weird cat. Anyone who met Bina knows her as the friendliest, gentlest, sassiest and most social house panther in the world. The Queen of flops, lap sits, squeezing into boxes and cubbies, and pretending to be comfortable just so she could stay close to people.

Miss Oblina. Bina. Beans. The biggest girl with the smallest voice. Thank you for loving me when I didn't love myself. Thank you for trusting me implicitly, for your constant companionship, for the billions of snuggles, for every little "hi", and for all talks we had in the kitchen.

To all of you: thank you for your support (emotionally and financially) during Bina's many medical difficulties over the last 5 years. I ever never known another creature, feline or otherwise, with as much tenacity and strength as this girl. Her will to live and thrive was stronger than I've ever witnessed. She was a picture of resilience. I am deeply grateful for the additional years I was given with her through the generosity of friends and strangers.

Words cannot convey how much I will miss her. Bina was my daemon. My familiar. A part of me left this world with her and I think that's as it should be. My life is forever better for having had the opportunity to know her.

Night night, BeanBean. You are so loved. 💖
